Ever heard the expression, “The smartest person in the room, is the room?” In this session students will learn the power of crowdsourcing in an Edcamp inspired lesson format. First, you will learn about Visual Thinking Strategies while observing an art piece connected to history. You will learn how using Visual Thinking Strategies will spark inquiry questions. These inquiry questions lead the lesson as they are used to complete a digital “session board.” As in Edcamp, this lesson design inspires students to follow their passions. Using the digital session board, students choose which historical topics they would like to become experts in and work collaboratively with a team to do online research to learn more about the topic of their choosing. In this student centered lesson format, students will take the learning into their own hands and share what they learned with the class by creating a hyperdoc for other students to access. In addition to the Edcamp style lesson format, I will share with you the power of student self-reflection using a single point rubric in the After Party!
